Craig Faulkner started his career as a Certified Financial Planner with LPL, and eventually went on to found Emerald Publications, the largest financial marketing company in the United States. Starting with a line of seminars that is still used by thousands of professionals, he pioneered new marketing approaches for the financial services industry. Clients included individual advisors, institutional clients like Axa, New York Life, and American Express, as well as major broker dealers, including SagePoint, LPL, and ING.
After selling that company Craig spent several years in real estate development. The digital revolution offers such exciting new opportunities that in 2011 Craig reentered the industry and formed Faulkner Media Group to explore new marketing technologies for financial advisors.
Craig likes any kind of challenge, from cycling to running to surfing. Just to keep him inspired, his favorite surfboard hangs on the wall of his office.
Greg Woodbury worked for seventeen years with a financial marketing company in a variety of capacities, starting in sales, and training financial services representatives to implement a variety of marketing tools into their practices. Greg went on to assume the positions of Sales Manager, National Account Manager, and ultimately Vice President of Sales and was responsible for all aspects of revenue for the organization.
Greg brings this experience and expertise to FMG, heading up our sales efforts. His extensive list of corporate contacts includes most of the major financial services institutions, and his commitment to customer service is legendary. If you have a question or concern about any product, he’s willing to work with you until the problem is solved.
Greg is an outdoor enthusiast, and loves hiking and backpacking with his wife Camille, a talented graphic designer.
After attending UC Berkeley and graduating from San Diego State University with a BS in Accounting, Cathy began her career in finance as an auditor for KPMG, and quickly progressed to financial analyst, controller, then Vice President of Finance. At her last company, she was responsible for accounting, human resources, national account representatives, and the website product line with 30 direct and indirect reports. In 2007, Cathy joined the Faulkner Group as Chief Financial Officer and continues in that role at Faulkner Media Group. She is a wizard with systems, reporting, and making sure all the details are taken care of to ensure that your experience with us is seamless and smooth.
Besides being a busy Mom of two teenagers, Cathy has a passion for travel, and she is always planning her next trip. Next stop: Costa Rica!
Mike Woods joined Faulkner Media Group after thirteen years at a financial marketing company. Mike ran the Product Development group and the Customer Support division, which provided services to thousands of website owners.
Prior to that, Mike worked in Boston for a division of Standard & Poor’s Corp. and conceptualized and developed case studies for the Harvard Business School. These case studies are used by business and economics professors throughout the United States. He holds an MBA from the University of Southern California and an MS in Journalism from Boston University.
Mike has a rare talent: he knows more about compliance than almost anyone in the industry. He makes sure that everything we produce is submitted to the proper regulatory agencies and meets all their criteria. Mike’s real passion is baseball, and he serves as coach to his son’s Pony League team.
Dave Christensen is an entrepreneur and technology executive who developed SaaS platforms used today by more than 100,000 subscribers. Dave began his technology career in 1995 in the real estate industry with the launch of the first publicly accessible listing database in Minnesota. In 2001, Dave became Director of Technology for a national provider of distributed website programs and e-commerce solutions, and oversaw the development of their next generation e-commerce and website platforms.
In 2006, Dave founded Versimark, an SaaS company focused on distributing website programs for property/casualty insurance companies.The Versimark SaaS platform supported over 15,000 websites and was acquired by Faulkner Media Group in 2011.
Dave has the distinction of having the most kids of anyone on the team: five of his own and five adopted from Africa. This makes all of the technical problems he faces look easy!
Brandon Brown is an award-winning graphic artist with extensive experience in nearly all disciplines of new media. He began his career in 2002 with Toppling Giants, a collective of freelance video artists in Chicago. In 2005, Brandon worked as Director of Marketing/Design for the largest independent real estate agency in Chicago. In 2007, Brandon joined Liquidus Media, an industry leader in video technology for TV, video-on-demand, and the web, serving as Director of User Experience/Creative, responsible for leveraging design to meet an array of business needs.
Under the guidance and nudging of his marine-scientist wife, Brandon made the move to San Diego where he joined Faulkner Media Group in 2010. He has an MFA in Motion Graphic Design from BAU in Barcelona and a BFA in Film/Video from Columbia College in Chicago.
Marilyn Green Faulkner served as writer for the original marketing products developed by Craig Faulkner. She filled various roles as their company grew, including National Advertising Director, and created seminar systems for institutional clients such as Prudential and Met Life.
Since the formation of the Faulkner Group, Marilyn has overseen communications and marketing materials. At Faulkner Media Group she writes the videos and presentations, and creates content for websites.
A award-winning author and frequent lecturer on the classics, Marilyn has a BA in Humanities and an MA in Literature, and likes to sneak an appropriate poetic device or two into the marketing pieces whenever possible.
After many years in a buttoned-up industry, we are doing business at FMG in our own way. Frankie, an Australian Shepherd, comes to work most days to ensure that everyone is relaxed, enthused and remembers to take frequent water breaks!
